The Parr Lumber Great Summer Chef Off, held at Bladberry Farm on Sauvie Island, brings together select Portland chefs for a BBQ cook-off event to support the Foundation’s mission to better the lives of young Oregonians by giving them access to high-quality secondary education. The event also includes a silent auction and raise-the-paddle segment.

Presented by Parr Lumber, the cook-off features the culinary genius of Lardo (two-time reigning Chef Off champ), OX Restaurant, Renata, and dessert served by Portland’s own ‘farm-to-cone’ Salt & Straw. Guests at our 2016 event enjoyed wine and beer tastings and live entertainment by blues musician Lisa Mann, while chefs went head-to-head at the grill. At the end of the evening, guests cast their vote for the chef with the best dish, each competing for $5,000 to donate to an Oregon children’s charity of his or her choice. OX Restaurant, competing on behalf of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, took home the gold, beating out two-time reigning champ, Lardo!

Though online tickets are not live yet for 2017, event tables (10 people) can be purchased for $1,500. Individual tickets can be purchased for $150 per person. Please note, this is an adults-only affair due to libations consumed on site. Only 300 tickets will be sold, so we encourage guests to secure them early when available!

In 2014 the Foundation launched the Oregon Community Quarterback Scholarship program, which allows emerging student leaders facing financial hurdles the opportunity to attend an Oregon university, college or trade school. The Foundation holds three fundraisers each year to support its cause, which also includes the Safeway-Albertsons Battle at Bandon, an annual golf tournament; and new to the Foundation in 2015, a fundraising opportunity for low income students in partnership with Safeway-Albertsons and KGW: Huddle Up for Kids.
